Internal planning mechanisms are often heavily influenced by the requirements of the current major funding provider. This tends to condition organisations to keep on doing what they did in previous years. However, in changing economic times it is imperative for education providers to scan wider for trends and changes in their 'external environment', to identify opportunities for development and growth. We have experience of facilitating cross departmental planning involving consideration of political, economic, social, technological and environmental factors.
